Erie shoppers scurried to find last-minute gifts Monday for the Christmas holiday Wednesday.
Sara Kim is used to seeing women come through the doors of Lollie, the boutique she owns in The Shops at the Colony Plaza in Erie.
But as Christmas approaches, Kim has seen an unusual number of men strolling in searching for last-minute gifts for their female relatives or loved ones.
“I’ve had some guys come in and show me exactly what their wife wants using our Instagram feed,” Kim laughed. “It’s been fun helping them shop.”
Lollie carries women’s clothing, jewelry, accessories and specialty items.
Erie’s brick-and-mortar stores, including small businesses like Kim’s, have seen a surge of shoppers rolling in as time runs out to order online and receive items in time for Christmas.
Kim expanded her normal business hours to include Sunday hours because of the influx.
“I think a lot of people also who have waited last minute want to support Erie and support local,” Kim said. “We’ve also seen a ton of business of people who see something online and want it here.”
Alix Foti, store manager at Mama Mia’s Bowtique located in West Erie Plaza, said she’d seen the same trend. Mama Mia’s Bowtique carries kid’s clothing items, toys, women’s clothing, jewelry and accessories.
